Getting stuck in jail in Monopoly Plus can slow down your game, especially when other players are moving across the board and acquiring valuable properties.

Just like in classic Monopoly, jail is part of the game’s mechanics and directly influences your strategy.

However, getting out of jail is simple once you understand all the available options and know when each one is most advantageous.

You can end up in jail by landing on the “Go to Jail” space, drawing a card that sends you there, or rolling the dice three turns in a row without getting a double.

While you're in jail, you cannot move around the board, but you still continue collecting rent from your properties, which helps prevent direct losses.

Methods to Get Out of Jail in Monopoly Plus

There are four official ways to leave jail in the game. The first is to try rolling a double. Before completing three turns in jail, you can roll thedic e in hopes of getting two identical numbers.

If you succeed, you leave immediately and move the number shown. If you fail, you remain in jail until your next attempt, and after three failed rolls, you will be forced to pay the fine.

Another method is to pay the exit fee, usually 50 dollars, at the start of your turn. This guarantees instant freedom and is ideal when you need to get back into the game quickly to take advantage of buying opportunities or to avoid letting other players get too far ahead.

You can also use the “Get Out of Jail Free” card. This card can be obtained from Chance or Community Chest or acquired through trades with other players.

When you use it at the beginning of your turn, you leave jail at no cost and continue playing normally.

Finally, if you neither pay nor roll a double within three turns, the game automatically charges the fine and releases you on the third turn.

This is the least efficient method, as it wastes valuable time that could be used strategically.

Which Strategy to Use When Leaving Jail

The right decision depends on the stage of the game. Early in the match, leaving jail quickly is almost always the best option, since there are still many properties available to buy and every move matters.

Mid-game, attempting to roll a double is often a better choice, as fewer properties are left and saving money becomes more important.

In the late game, staying in jail can actually be advantageous, since the board is mostly controlled and every move increases your risk of landing on heavily developed properties owned by opponents.

Because you still earn rent while imprisoned, staying put can serve as a strategic shield.

Important Tips While You’re in Jail

Jail doesn’t have to be just an obstacle; it can also be a moment to observe and make decisions. During this time, it’s worth analyzing the board, planning purchases, evaluating trades, and deciding when it's truly useful to pay to get out.

The “Get Out of Jail Free” card is extremely valuable and should be used at key moments—not impulsively.
