If you're an online gamer, you've probably experienced issues like high ping, unstable connections, or sudden disconnections — especially in competitive or always-online games.
There are several tools on the market that claim to reduce latency and improve connection stability. In this review, we’re taking a closer look at GearUP Booster, a game network optimization tool, and evaluating whether it can actually help reduce ping and improve stability in real-world gameplay scenarios.
Quick verdict: GearUP Booster can help stabilize ping and reduce latency in certain games, especially when ISP routing is inconsistent. Results vary by game and region, but competitive titles showed measurable improvements in our tests.
Watch the full real-world test in the video below and see the ping differences before and after using GearUP Booster.
What Is GearUP Booster?
GearUP Booster is a game network optimization tool designed to improve how game traffic is routed between your device and game servers.
Instead of relying solely on your ISP’s default routing, GearUP selects optimized network paths to help reduce latency spikes, packet loss, and unstable connections during online gameplay.
Its main purpose is to stabilize the connection and improve consistency, which is especially important in competitive and always-online games.

How Does GearUP Booster Work?
Online games rely on network routes automatically selected by internet service providers. These routes are not always optimized for low latency or connection stability, especially when connecting to game servers in other regions.
This network optimization tool improves the routing path between your device and the game servers, prioritizing more stable routes for real-time gaming traffic.
Only game-related packets are redirected. Browsing, streaming, and downloads remain unaffected, avoiding the additional overhead commonly associated with traditional VPNs.
The system continuously monitors multiple network paths based on latency, packet loss, and stability, automatically selecting the most consistent route without any manual configuration.

Real Ping Tests (Before and After)
To evaluate the impact of GearUP Booster on network performance, we conducted tests on four popular games, all on Brazilian servers, using an 800 Mbps fiber-optic connection via 6GHz Wi-Fi with stable jitter between 1 ms and 3 ms from the PC to the router.
The games tested were:
- Fortnite
- Valorant
- Rainbow Six Siege
- Call of Duty: Warzone — tested in two different game modes.

Look for the Default Gateway address — this is your router’s IP.

Then, run a ping test using that address (mine is 192.168.1.1) and wait until the test is finished:

If the ping results to your router are stable and consistently low (usually 1–3 ms), your local network is likely not the issue, and any high in-game ping is probably related to external routing or server distance.
Important notes:
- All tests were performed during night time between 6 PM to 2 AM UTC-3 to reflect realistic network performance.
- All games, except Call of Duty: Warzone, were tested on Sao Paulo servers; Call of Duty: Warzone was tested on the Osasco server due to regional availability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is GearUP Free?
GearUP offers a free plan with limited features, allowing users to test the service. Full route optimization and advanced features require a paid subscription.
Is GearUP Legit?
Yes. GearUP is a legitimate network optimization service used worldwide. It does not modify game files or interfere with game clients, and it operates independently from the games themselves.
Does GearUP Have Official Partnerships?
GearUP Booster has official collaborations and gaming partners, which reinforces its legitimacy and compliance with standard gaming network practices.

Does GearUP Work on Consoles?
Yes, GearUP Booster works on consoles, but it requires a PC to act as a network gateway. The console must be connected to the same local network as the PC and configured to use the gateway and DNS settings provided by GearUP.
This setup allows game traffic from the console to be routed through GearUP’s optimized network paths.
Limitations
- The PC must remain powered on during gameplay
- Setup is more complex compared to PC-only usage
- Results may vary depending on region and game servers
If you want to avoid using a PC as a gateway, the HYPEREV router is an alternative solution. It connects directly to your existing home network and applies GearUP’s routing optimization at the router level, helping to reduce ping, stabilize connections, and minimize packet loss across supported games.
What Platforms and Games Are Supported by GearUP Booster?
GearUP Booster supports multiple platforms, including PC (Windows), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch (limited support).
It is compatible with a wide range of online games, such as competitive shooters, MOBAs, MMORPGs, and battle royale titles.
Game support and optimization may vary depending on the region, server availability, and specific title, so users should always check the official GearUP game compatibility list for the most accurate information.
When Does GearUP Booster Not Help?
GearUP Booster may not provide noticeable improvements in the following situations:
- When you are already connected to a local server with low and stable ping, leaving little room for route optimization.
- When the issue is caused by poor local network conditions, such as weak Wi-Fi signal, interference, or outdated networking hardware.
- When latency or lag is caused by the game’s own servers, including server overloads or regional infrastructure issues.
In these cases, GearUP cannot compensate for local hardware limitations or server-side performance problems, as it focuses solely on network route optimization.
Does GearUP Increase FPS?
No. GearUP Booster does not increase FPS. Its purpose is to improve network stability, routing efficiency, and ping consistency, not in-game performance.
Can GearUP Get Me Banned?
No. GearUP Booster is safe to use with anti-cheat systems. It functions as a gaming-focused network optimization tool, similar to optimized routing services, and does not violate game terms of service.
Who Should Use GearUP Booster?
GearUP Booster is ideal for players with high or unstable ping, latency spikes, or disconnections, especially on international servers.
Casual players with stable low ping or console-only users without a PC may not benefit much.
Is GearUP Booster Worth It?
It depends on your connection. For unstable routing, it offers noticeable improvements. With already stable low ping, gains are minimal.
In my tests, there was a slight improvement, but results vary. If low ping matters to you, it’s worth trying the free 3-day trial.
You can try the service free for three days (no credit card required).
